When to seek help
When breakouts need a clearer plan
- Breakouts keep returning despite your current routine.
- Spots are deep or painful, or new scars are appearing.
- You are unsure whether bumps are acne, folliculitis or another condition.
- Acne is affecting confidence or everyday life.
You do not need to wait until acne is severe to ask for help.
Your first visit
What to expect at your consultation
Understand the pattern
Review the type and location of breakouts, scarring, previous treatment and how acne affects you.
Look at your routine
Discuss skincare, medicines and relevant hormonal or lifestyle factors. Bring a product list and previous prescriptions.
Agree on next steps
Discuss suitable options, how to use treatment, possible side effects and when to return.
How treatment is chosen
The plan depends on acne severity, scarring risk, previous response and what your skin can tolerate. Pregnancy plans and relevant health conditions also matter.
Topical treatment
Prescription creams or gels may be used to help prevent clogged pores and control inflammation.
Oral treatment
Persistent or more severe acne may need oral medication. Isotretinoin may be considered when appropriate, with safety checks and monitoring.
Supportive skincare
A manageable routine supports treatment and helps limit irritation. Products and procedures are discussed according to need.
Follow-up and expectations
Early improvement can take 6–8 weeks. An initial treatment plan is often reviewed around 12 weeks, with earlier review if needed for side effects or worsening acne.
Control active acne. Reduce the risk of new scars.
Progress varies. Follow-up helps adjust treatment and plan maintenance. Existing acne scars can be assessed separately once active breakouts are better controlled.

Common questions
Can I book for teenage acne?
Yes. The consultation considers age, skin sensitivity, daily routines and the teenager’s own concerns.
Will I need blood tests?
Not everyone needs blood tests. Testing is considered when the assessment or proposed medication makes it useful.
What should I bring?
Bring details of current products and medicines, previous treatments and any relevant test results. Photos can help show how breakouts have changed.
